-Avoid temptation of sweets offered at work by keeping your own delicious and healthy snacks

-Eat well balanced meals throughout the day with plenty of fiber
-Use a smaller plate
-Make a plan to get in some physical activity
-give your body at least 20 minutes to digest before going back for seconds
-Drink a glass of water before your meals
-Concentrate more on socializing than eating
-Don’t let cocktails trip you up- most holiday ones are very calorie dense, stick with water or if you want to drink a glass of wine
-Follow the 80/20 rule, make 80% of the foods you eat nutrient dense and allow yourself to indulge the other 20% of the time
-Be aware of your intake
-Have fruit for dessert
If you need some help creating healthier holiday recipes have no fear, the USDA is here! The USDA, as part of its My Plate Holiday Makeover initiative, has created new recipes and suggested substitutions when cooking during the holidays. They recommend using fruits instead of butter, and herbs and spices instead of salt. My Plate is also marketing meal makeover recipes where they take holiday favorites and give them a healthier twist.
