While doing some continuing education for my RD license, I found this graphic and I loved it. What a perfect illustration for atheletes to know what their plates should resemble. I’m anti fad diets such as low carb, paleo, etc. It’s all about balance and everything in moderation, especially for athletes. They need their carbs, of all kinds! Carbs help fuel performance and also helps with recovery. Athletes also have increased protein needs for muscle repair and recovery, as well as increased fluids to prevent dehydration. Remember to drink your water! See my post below where I discuss where water needs to be in your workout. Be healthy and don’t be afraid of carbs athletes, your body will be fueled much better for optimal performance by eating a well balanced diet and not creating any restrictions. Do you follow any special diet?? Do you feel like it improves your performance??
